Common signs to call
When to call about a water heater.
A water heater that is visibly leaking should be turned off at the cold inlet valve and the gas or electric supply shut off, then called in. Lukewarm water, rumbling sounds, or recovery that takes far longer than it used to usually point to a unit near the end of its rated life.
